Lake Couchiching
Situated on the northern side of Orillia, Lake Couchiching is joined to Lake Simcoe, and is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway. The lake has a strong history of boating. In ages past, First Nations people, fur traders and explorers paddled the route to the Great Lakes. Today, boaters, canoeists, kayakers and swimmers frequent the lake for pure recreation. Lake Couchiching is considered a rather shallow lake, and is approximately 16 km/ 10 mi long and 4.8 km/ 3 mi wide.
